Alcide 1955Alcide was one of the best horses to never win the Derby which was almost certainly no fault of his own. Fate decreed that he was foaled in the worst era of doping and nobbling since the First World War. His trainer felt sure that he was ‘got at’ to prevent him running as a very warm favourite. He was a very good racehorse.
