Baybrown coat colour with black mane and tail. Bay is often thought the smartest coat colour for those buying a racehorse or a share in a racehorse. Bays regularly fetch the top prices. Other colours for thoroughbred racehorses are black, brown, chesnut or grey. No other colours are officially accepted by the racing authorities.
